  • "When you live in multi-family housing that is pet-friendly, should you not expect people to walk their dogs?"
  • "AITAH a neighbor told me my dog isn’t allowed to p*e outside on the grass"

I (26f) live in an apartment building within a large apartment community. I walk my dog roughly the same route daily a few times a day. It is a pet.
  • friendly apartment. I had a neighbor (70+ f) who lives in the opposite end of my building come up to me outside today and tell me that my dog shouldn't be
  • p ing on the grass. This statement left me really confused. Many people in the building have dogs. Nobody in the front of the building have
  • outdoor patios nor are they allowed any personal items on the lawn. It's nothing but grass out there. She started yelling at
  • me and it turned into and argument. Her point ended up being "You need to stop letting your dog p e on the grass because I want my grandkids to
  • be able to roll around and play on the lawn." Mind you nobody was outside but me and she had just walked out to tell me that. I was
  • walking down the sidewalk and my dog was right next to me in the grass. He's an old male dog and he poes after everything he sniffs which is constantly
  • throughout walks. I yelled back at her and told her no I have the right to go for a walk with my dog and dogs are going to p e. If he p ops I always clean it up. Again
  • it's an apartment it's not anyone's property they own, I wouldn't let my dog pe on someone's personal residence but when you live in multi family housing that is
  • pet friendly should you not expect people to walk their dogs? Do they not expect dogs to pe? | can't make him only pe in one spot and empty it all out, he has
  • to go in spurts. Also not to tell them how to parent but there's a lot of nails and glass in the grass from maintenance so idk why they want to do that anyway.

  • savvyliterate NTA. I really hate to tell her this, but she probably rolled around on grass a dog ped on when she was a kid back in the 50s-60s. It's not like her grandkids are rolling around at that second either.
  • You're fine. You're cleaning up p op like you should, and your dog isn't going on anything other than grass. Plus, your boy an old man and is doing great. Please give him skritches for me.
  • No_Community_8279 NTA. People are going to walk their dogs there. Also wildlife will go there. It's not going to be a sanitized spot for children to roll around.
  • Consistent-Ant7710 NTA. If she wants to dictate the treatment of grass, she should move to a house with a private lawn.
  • babydemon90 I mean there was no reason to resort to yelling. Tell the neighbor you'll make sure to talk to your dog about it during your weekly one on ones, then just keep walking.
  • shoobe01 Does she also sit there and yell at bunnies and squirrels for peing on the grass?
  • justsomedude1776 Maybe if she wanted to dictate what happens on "her own" private property she should own her own private property and not rent an apartment. She doesn't. Community property is shared, you aren't breaking any rules since its a pet friendly complex, walking your dog is a normal activity not disturbing anyone, 100% NTA.
  • Economy-Emu-4689 NTA. Someone said that to me once about my dog, and I said, "I tried to tell him to use the toilet, but he doesn't speak English." And I was left alone after that.
